Samuel de Champlain History Center Receives Collections Grant
The Samuel de Champlain History Center is thrilled to announce the receipt of a grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership (CVNHP). The grant will catalog a large collection of Champlain community event posters and scrapbook material that are in the History Center’s collections. The material depicts events and news in Champlain in the early to mid-20th century.
This project has been funded wholly or in part by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission (GLFC) under an assistance agreement to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program.
The Samuel de Champlain History Center is located in the Village of Champlain in the historic former First National Bank of Champlain building at 202 Elm Street. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to preserve the Village and Town of Champlain's (Clinton County, NY) history and promote awareness of French-Canadian history in upstate New York. Samuel de Champlain History Center Receives Collections Grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership
The Samuel de Champlain History Center is thrilled to announce the receipt of a grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership (CVNHP). The grant will fund the cataloguing of the History Center’s Sheridan Iron Works documents and artifacts, including photographs, brochures, ledgers and newspaper articles. The Sheridan Iron Works was a manufacturing facility in Champlain, N.Y. that was in operation for 100 years, starting in the 1880s. It made book binding machines and paper cutters under the name of T.W. and C.B. Sheridan Co.
This project was funded by an agreement P22AC02055-00 awarded by the United States National Park Service (NPS) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership. The grant is administered by the Lake Champlain Basin Program.

Samuel de Champlain History Center Receives $4,000 Collections Grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership
The Samuel de Champlain History Center is thrilled to announce its receipt of a grant for $4,000 from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership. The grant, made through CVNHP’s Collections Grant program and funded by the New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program, will fund the continued digitization, cataloguing and preservation of the History Center’s 2009 Quadricentennial documents and artifacts related to the Champlain Valley’s celebrations in New York and Vermont, including books, programs, brochures and newspaper articles.
