Champlain Posters Printed by the Moorsfield Press
Posters printed for Champlain's businesses, schools, civic organizations and municipal offices.
The Moorsfield Press was founded by architect and historian Hugh McLellan in April of 1919 in the Village of Champlain, New York. Hugh's goal was to print material from his collection of family papers. This hobby quickly turned into a full time business as Champlain was in need of a local printer. With the help of his young son Woody, the two printed with a letterpress from 1919 until Hugh's retirement in 1958 at the age of 84. His son Woody took over the business and ran the Moorsfield Press until the early 1980s. The press printed 60 years of material for residents of the Village of Champlain and surrounding communities.
The Champlain History Center owns many posters printed by the Moorsfield Press. Additional posters and publications can be found at the links below.
